Player Bio
MAN-KIT’S family made headlines in Kingston. His stories are widely documented and epic. His
nickname, Chang, became legendary. Most commonly referenced are: the boat cruise; “you suck your
own”; the knife fights (sister); “No sleep over; no more party, Ali you go home”; “time is stuk, come home
now”; etc.. The stories continued at McMaster University including: the fight (McMaster version of Rocky
versus Drago); surviving a street war at Jim Bob’s; getting punched in the face by female fighter “check
hook”; etc.
Crown Royal, best dance moves (the Arkansas Razorback foot swipe, the TO pom-pom, imitation dances
(Ry, Dave, Ali), etc), all day football gloves, bacon in every meal, being damn good looking and ripped,
are all Chang staples.
As the great Craig Smith said “Chang, the legend continues”

Overview
Chang has a lot of bocce experience. He has been to each year of the cottage and entered each tournament.
Some years have been successful, other years he’s been too focused on fun to reach his potential. He has
made it to the Semi-finals, he has previous wins over Syed, Jer and Ned, but he is coming off a 2017 year
where he lost every game.
Strengths
 Strong, good looking and athletic.
 Self-made. Makes his own fortune type of player.
 Has big wins under his belt and versatile athlete.
 Has agility and quick-twitch, high muscle tone.
 Excellent strength.
 Unorthodox throwing techniques. Multi-window throwing mechanics.
 Works his way through trash. Ability to find ways to stop his bocce ball among debris and put
pressure on opponents to make throws they are not comfortable with.
 Ability to get under the skin of opponents (Lance Stephenson style). Opponents can get
unnerved and upset during the match.
 Prefers to stick with a mid-range game as his bread and butter (Tony Buckets style).

Weaknesses
 Inconsistent.
 Limited playoff success (only been to the semi-finals).
 Almost too muscular for bocce.
 “Hollywood” or “Broadway” type player. Has been called “Enrique Iglesias”.
 Almost has too many fans and storylines that interfere with his playing focus (like his team
Dallas Cowboys).
 Game strategies can be questionable at times.
 Has Achilles heel in playing terrain: sand. Big playoff losses (shed, septic tank sand) on last
sets being played in sand.
 Almost too popular and too good looking for Bocce. Like a player like Johnny Manziel, doesn’t
seem to need or want it enough.
 Has been flagged for fault throws for his Tony Romo ¾ hook shot throwing technique.
 Places random and unorthodoxed spins on the ball that are “casino” throws.

What other Scouts say about him
“I know this; you don’t want him in your bracket. On top of too many female fans as distractions
to your matchup, he plays bocce like he plays tennis: all or nothing. He’s got talent, he’s got big
wins, but it is just a question what bocce player shows up.”
Conclusion
Frustrating prospect to evaluate. If he can work out some consistency with his mechanics and
game strategy, he could easily compete for Krupnik Cups. Maybe his disastrous 2017
tournament will motivate him to perform? He has big victories, but most of them come from him
throwing one great ball out of four. That is good enough to get him into the playoff bracket. He’ll
need to improve his accuracy if he ever wants to drink out of the championship cup.
